Our independently verified climate data helps customers measure the environmental impact of refurbished IT and support ESG reporting, tenders and procurement decisions. The calculations follow Rejoose's RFI methodology and report per-unit climate impact across selected product categories.
METHODOLOGY
How the Impact Is Calculated
The Rejoose Refurbishment Impact Factor (RFI) method calculates the additional greenhouse gas emissions created by refurbishment activities and expresses this impact as a percentage of the product’s original embodied carbon footprint. The method is partner-specific and applies to refurbished units in UpcycleIT’s product portfolio.
Refurbishment Impact
The RFI shows the emissions added by refurbishment activities such as repair labour, replacement parts, storage, transport and packaging.
Lifecycle GWP
The product reports include refurbishment, a defined two-year use phase and end-of-life impact.
Avoided Emissions
Avoided emissions are reported separately from refurbishment impact and are not netted against it. This is important because it keeps the reporting transparent.

Certified Application of the RFI Method
Rejoose certifies that Upcycle IT has implemented the company-specific RFI method. The inputs were reviewed for completeness and unit consistency and processed using Rejoose-maintained emission factors. The certificates are valid during their stated periods, provided inputs, facilities and processes do not materially change.

What the Reports Include
The reports define a clear system boundary. Counted items include inbound and outbound transport, storage, repair labor, replacement parts, outbound packaging materials and the 2-year use-phase energy included in lifecycle GWP. Excluded items include original manufacturing, disposal of replaced parts, transport prior to the ITAD collection point and use beyond the defined 2-year period.
